About Trove

We built what we couldn't find.

Two people, two different worlds, one recurring challenge.
Trove is the answer to a gap we kept seeing with our own eyes.

Our origin

The problem revealed itself.
The solution took the right people to build it.

Trove began with two people who spend lots of time in places where help is far away. We sail offshore, dive, climb, hike, camp, and travel to remote corners of the world. So do the people around us. We've lived life to its fullest and had some incredible adventures, but unfortunately, we've also learned what it means to be hours or days from a hospital when something goes wrong.

A medical emergency here, hours from port, was the moment that started Trove.

The moment that started Trove came aboard a sailing catamaran in the Galapagos islands, four hours from the nearest port. An otherwise healthy young guest suffered a sudden and unprovoked medical emergency, and was losing blood. The captain and crew did everything right, but their medical kit failed them. Attempts at an IV were unsuccessful, and Julie, our Chief Medical Officer, provided as much guidance as she could over the phone while the boat raced back to shore.

A tragedy that day was ultimately avoided, but the experience was unsettling.

When we shared this story with others, we learned failures like these are not all that uncommon. This was not an isolated failure. Everyone had a story of a job, a vacation, a camping trip, even a family dinner where something went wrong and the first aid kit they found in a random cabinet didn't have what they needed, or they didn't know how to use what they found.

Real life rarely pauses for an injury or illness. The squall does not stop, the job site clock keeps running, and vacation memories can't be made from the bathroom floor. Our systems are built not only to treat what happens, but to get you back to living your life to its fullest as soon as possible.

Who's behind Trove

I am a retired US Navy Commander with twenty-one years as a naval aviator and experimental test pilot. I flew airborne electronic attack missions in combat over Iraq and Afghanistan in direct support of forces on the ground, logging more than 2,500 flight hours across 53 aircraft. After the Navy, I served as Chief Test Pilot at Lockheed Martin's Skunk Works, and later as Associate Director of Test and Evaluation at Anduril Industries. I'm an avid hunter, angler, climber, sailor, and I would always rather be outdoors.

Across all of my life's work and adventures, austere test ranges, manufacturing floors, mountain trails, and the open ocean, I kept seeing the same failure. When a mishap came, the right medical supplies and the right training were almost never on hand. I've seen smart, capable people forced to improvise because no one had medical training, or because the equipment we had wasn't matched to the moment that actually arrived.

Competency and trust is never given; it is earned through shared experience and proven under pressure. That is the standard we hold Trove to. We want to stand beside our clients in their most demanding moments, and celebrate with you when preparation makes the difference.

I am a physician, and medicine far from a hospital has defined most of my career. I became an EMT during my final year of college, and have been chasing chaos and adventure ever since. I spent three years as a general surgery resident before ultimately deciding on Preventive Medicine as my chosen field; I found I get much more joy from preventing injuries before they happen, than from fixing them once they do.

Much of my work has happened where the systems we take for granted simply are not there. I've travelled all over the world on humanitarian missions and worked with so many different groups, private foundations, big corporations, academics, government, military, even aerospace, and the common combination for success is: tools + training + teamwork.

Readiness is not about having the most expensive or impressive equipment; it's about having the right equipment and knowing how to use it, or knowing how to buy time when you're in trouble. Experience, adaptability, and stubborn optimism are the convictions that I bring to Trove as its clinical architect. I get to know each of our customers and their surrounding people, and design every Trove system to the standard I would want for my own family. That's my story; I can't wait to hear yours.

What we stand for

Our company values.

The right thing, not just more things

Readiness is not about carrying the most. It is about carrying exactly what the moment demands, considering the full spectrum of what can and most likely could go wrong. No two environments are identical, so neither are two Trove kits.

A partner, not a vendor

Our work does not end when the kit ships. We stand beside our clients through delivery, training, resupply, and response in the moments that matter, because we're providing a relationship, not a transaction.

Care that keeps you going

Our systems make proper treatment fast and within reach, so minor illnesses are tamed and a minor injury is handled right. Serious conditions are stabilized properly and sent to the right level of care. Either way, we keep you moving, safely.

Integrity above all

As a Trove customer, you're trusting us with your health, your business, your family. We are honored and humbled by this. We will be open and honest about our policies, prices, and what we can and can't help you with. We share responsibility for your outcomes. We keep our word.
